Stop Paying For Power | Make Your Own Electricity | DIY Solar Panels Are Simpler And Cheaper to Construct Than You Think

Are you still still paying for power when you can make your own electricity? For a smaller amount than $200.00 you can build your own DIY solar panels and start generating electricity.

My electric statement was out of hand. Every month I found my self shaking my head thinking that there ought to be a better way. I in the end took some action and did some research; what I found is that there is a better way.

Firstly I thought about having a contractor set up solar on my condo. When I got the proposal it was nearly ten thousand dollars! OK, that’s not going to work.

I kept looking and considered buying pre-made solar panels to put in myself. This brought the cost down to around four thousand dollars. I’ll say that’s alot better but still a alot of money.

I was saying to my brother-in-law about my circumstances and he looked at me and said, Why don’t you put together some DIY solar panels? That’s right, he said, It is simple to make your own electricity.

He told me of a website that offers DIY solar panel plans. I went to that site and then another checking out all the information. I was amazed to find that there is a rising make your own electricity industry.

I bought a guide for only fifty dollars and it had plans for DIY solar panels in addition to DIY windmills. Three weeks afterward I my had own running DIY solar panels providing electricity to my condo. The whole thing (including the guide) was less than $300.00.

So I wonder, If you could put up your own DIY solar panels so that you were capable to make your own electricity – and do all of this for 200 – 300 dollars – Why wouldn’t you? If you are anxious about the climate and you are weary of huge electric statements; Put up some DIY solar panels, create your own electricity and get on with your life.

Solar Power Panels Counsel

The Watt Power output of a Solar module is the number of watts output when it is illuminated under standard conditions. Watt Peak (Wp) is the direct current watts output of a solar module as measured under an Industry standardized Light Test.

Solar modules has dropped from around $27 Watt Peak (Wp) in 1982 to around $2.49 Wp today and can be expected to dive much further in the future. At $1 Wp, grid parity will have been achieved and Photovoltaics (PV) will be able to compete with the prevailing price of electricity.

Two types of solar panels are manufactured, expensive crystalline silicon types and proprietary thin-film solar panels. Thin Firm CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) is a direct band gap semiconductor, which enables it to convert solar energy into electricity more efficiently (i.e., more watts per kg of material) than the indirect band gap semiconductor materials used historically.

CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) permits a low cost production process. Automated high put though production processes have been employed successfully eliminating the need for expensive clean rooms or other specialty equipment.

Thin Firm CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) semiconductor material also converts low and diffuse light to electricity more efficiently than conventional cells under cloudy weather and dawn and dusk conditions. As a result, Thin Firm CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) modules will generally produce more electricity under real world conditions than conventional solar modules with similar power ratings.

Advanced thin film design produces high energy yield across a wide range of climatic conditions with excellent low light response and temperature response coefficient. Frameless laminate is robust and can take a variety of shapes, is cost effective and recyclable as well.

A crucial metric that most look at is the measurement of kilowatt-hours per kilowatt installed. Find the wattage produced by your solar panel into watts per dollar. Most likely, when you are reach $0.15/kWh or better, you are competitive with your electric company.

There are cabling costs battery banks and inverters to consider. Calculating solar output, use an average of 5 hrs per day of sun. Eg. 4 x 80w panels produce 320 watts x 5 hrs should produce 1600 watts or 1.6 Kw per day. A 1000w system would produce about 4 Kwh per day. Most families use between 3-10 Kwh per day. Harness solar panel kits and discover this energy saving technology.

4 Solar Power Options For Your Home

The sun’s energy is one of the most abundant and important forms of energy on the planet. In nature it is used for photosynthesis; in ancient temples it was used as a natural light source, and in arid countries it is used to purify water.

So, how can solar power be used on a smaller scale at home as clean source of energy?

So far people have discovered how to solar power their homes in 4 ways:

Solar Cookers:

A solar cooker is an extremely healthy, inexpensive and clean alternative to cooking your food. Though solar cookers have been used a lot to desalinize water in poor arid countries, many 1st world countries are adopting them in summer for cooking their food.

With solar cooking, the oven has a number of reflective panels arranged in a parabola, where they focus the sun on a single pot, in which the food is placed. Depending on the design, the cooker can make a variety of dishes from bread to steamed vegetables to fried eggs to a roast beef, and it typically caters for up to 5 people.

The disadvantage of using a solar cooker is that it can up to four times longer than a conventional oven to cook your food. But if you think that the food it cooks is healthier, cheaper (since no power is used) and it is portable, that extra time should not be such a big issue.

Solar Water Geyser:

Solar water heating has a number of uses, and thanks to technological developments, modern solar water heating systems can be used at home to completely replace conventional boilers or geysers.

As cold water is pumped through a solar collector, the pipes absorb the sun’s energy, and heat the water, which is then stored in an insulated tank for later use. Usually the water can get so hot that it has to be mixed with cold water before it can be used.

Passive Solar Living:

Over half of a household’s power bill is spent just on heating and ventilation. So it crazy how few people think of trying passive solar living to save power and ultimately money.

With passive solar living, a household is design to effectively use the sun’s rays for natural heating and lighting. This would include being built on a sun-facing slope, with the length of the house facing the sun and having a number of large Low-E windows. And as a result staying naturally warmer in the colder months.

With the right placement of windows and mirrors and even white walls in your home, sunlight can be effectively used to light your home, instead of you having to resort to electric lights.

A natural air conditioning solution would be to plant deciduous trees on the sun-facing side of your home. This would provide cool shade in summer, but allow warm sunlight though in winter.

For free ventilation, you could make use of a solar chimney or solar attic fan, where hot, stale air is sucked out of the home and replaced with cool, fresh air from outside.

Electric Solar Energy:

More scientifically known as photovoltaic energy, this form of solar power can be used at home as a renewable source of electricity. For a solar electric panels system to be most effective, the panels should always be facing the sun.

How the system works is as sun hits the panels, the solar cells absorb the light and convert it to electricity, which is then stored in special batteries. For you to be able to use solar power in your home, it first needs to be converted from direct current into alternating current with the help of an inverter.

What’s great about this form of solar power is that it is relatively affordable, clean, and easy to implement at home. Furthermore, many diy fanatics have discovered how to build their own solar power systems for a fraction of what it would cost to get a commercial system installed.

With these four ways on how to solar power your home, there is no need for you to rely on the utility companies or the government for heating and lighting at home. Right now it is very possible for us to use solar power at home. It is just a matter of everyone having the determination, energy consciousness and environmental awareness to take action and harness the sun’s free, natural power.

You can use wind generated power for your home.

World leaders and environmentalists are singing the praises of the future of wind generated power. Countries around the globe are investing in new technologies and considering wind farms both on and off shore. The United States, Great Britain, and Australia are just three such countries committed to realizing the benefits of wind generated power.

Wind farms are housed both onshore and offshore. Off shore wind farms are a relatively new occurrence with the largest being off the coast of Scotland. The turbines are placed in rows along the ocean floor in shallow waters close to shore. California’s central valley has been home to wind farms for almost 30 years. The wind generated in the central valley is fed into the public energy grid. Because wind is an intermittent energy source it is often used as an energy supplement.

The United Kingdom has taken steps to map a future powered by off shore wind farms. The shelved sea floor off the coast of Great Britain is ideal for the placement of turbines. Massive off shore wind farms have not been built in the U.S. yet. However, the topography of the ocean floor surrounding the United States might be a limiting factor. Gigantic underwater canyons and steep drops will be keeping wind farms off of the U.S. pacific coast.

Off shore wind power generation is more consistent than onshore wind turbines because winds at sea are more consistent, stronger, and the turbines can be much larger. However, offshore wind generated power is only one piece of the wind power puzzle. Benefits of onshore power farms are sources of income for landowners, tax benefits, and job creation.

Wind power has the capacity to produce more than 100 billion kilowatt hours worldwide yearly. The main hindrance to this wind generated power technologies lies in the cost of the turbines. The rate at which the turbines pay themselves off however is faster than any other power producing mechanism.

Denmark has led the way in wind generated power and encouraged participation from countries like the U.S. and the U.K. There is great hope that wind generated power can create energy independence for developing nations Like Africa and Nicaragua.

Funding for wind generating power projects come from a number of sources including, government, research groups, foundations and power companies. The outlook for wind farms is good in the United States. In a time of economic crisis it is estimated that government sponsored initiatives in alternative energy will produce jobs at a rate of 4.8 jobs for every mega watt of power installed.

Do Not Buy Make Natural Power Until You Have Read This!

So you have decided to build your own home solar power and home wind turbine. You have searched the internet and come across the Make Natural Power guide. But does it really work? And is it the best diy energy guide out there? Let me tell you what I think of it.

The best thing about Make Natural Power is its cover. Everything beyond that was disappointing to say the least. Although it appears to have all the features of the the other guides, the information is very thin and not well-explained.

Likes:

I have that the one positive I got out this guide is that it is possible to build a home solar power and wind turbine system, but only if you have previous diy experience and know a lot about things such as wiring, using various tools and material, and fixing things properly to your roof.

Dislikes

* Poor diagrams

The illustrations did not go well with the instructions. Label were missing, the scaling was out, and the pictures were just plain boring.

* Low quality solar power system

The instructions were not easy to follow, and the illustrations did not help either. Because of this, the reader is required to figure things out on their own, resulting in a useless solar panel system, if it ever get finished.

* “Thin” maintenance information

We eventually did get our windmill to work, however, since the maintenance instructions were so incomplete, our wind turbine only managed to last 2 months, until it finally seized. It turns out they forgot to tell us how to make the windmill weather-proof.

* Customer support is really slow

A lot of the time we had to contact customer service for assistance. But they were very slow to respond, and by the time they did reply we had either forgotten what the problem or had figured it out ourselves. On average, it will take over 5 days to get the answers you need.

Overall Rating

If you are willing to get a cheap knock-off of Earth4Energy, but for the same price, then by all means get the Make Natural Power guide. The book was terribly written, the instructions were confusing, and it was not a pleasant experience for me.

Why Is Recycling So Important and What Can We Do?

Have you ever wondered if what you know about recycling is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on recycling.

Chinese-made consumer products do not need to be shipped out and rubbish do not need to go into China. There are plenty of creative minds among the Chinese to create better employment for those people. It is also important to always consider the durability of the product. Read reports and consider purchasing a product with a warranty. This means that products can be used again in the manufacture of recycled furniture.

The company, which provides a unique and cleaner solution to recycling scrap tires, has already begun exporting its product to China, Sri Lanka, Mexico and Germany. These four countries account for nearly half of global iron production and more than half of global CO2 emissions from iron and steel production. Outdated technologies such as open hearth furnaces are still in use in Ukraine and Russia. Products and packaging created in this manner feature materials that are perpetually circulated and reused in what industry experts refer to as closed loops. This extracts maximum value from materials already in use without ever ending up in landfills, damaging ecosystems.

Recycling actually isn’t accomplished until the discards actually are transformed into new products. Achieving this balance has been at the heart of our new product development strategy and has resulted in us introducing recycled grades across our leading premium quality board range? They do this to prevent them from getting refilled so that you have to buy their OEM products.

If you find yourself confused by what you’ve read to this point, don’t despair. Everything should be crystal clear by the time you finish.

Nevertheless it is a step in the right direction while you may need to provide some proof of having purchased their product before it gets accepted into their new recycling technology programs. Dairy and meat products should not be added to a compost pile. It will attract animals and it will become moldy.

One bin should be for paper goods, such as newspapers and magazines, another one should be for cans and aluminum foil and a third bin should be used for glass products. Show your child how to rinse out the items before placing them in the bin, too. They will also spend less on production costs and the consumers will pay less for the goods which will encourage more purchasing as their dollar will have more value on recycled products.

Businesses that recycle help the environment I recently visited a hotel group that was environmentally friendly. I will always support them so let me ask you, are you planning a trip? Although recycling may seem like a modern concept introduced with the environmental movement of the 1970s, it’s actually been around for thousands of years. Prior to the industrial age, you couldn’t make goods quickly and cheaply, so virtually everyone practiced recycling in some form. That said, “You’re going to collect waste one way or another”, as pointed out by a Washington-based environmental consultant. A recycling program should allow garbage collection to become less frequent (or to use fewer trucks), offsetting the cost and energy involved.

How to Decide on the Best Solar Power Kit

Handyman alert: solar energy power kits have arrived. The renewable energy explosion has people opting to add solar energy power to their homes. Some are going all out and totally off the grid, while others are wading in slowly. For the handyman, installing a solar energy kit is not difficult. Everything needed arrives in one package.

The only question is how to choose the right solar energy kit for the home?

Solar power kits come with detailed instructions for the handyman to follow. This should be the first thing you look for in the review or description of the kit, unless you are purchasing it to be installed by the pros. In that case ask them for recommendations.

Your kit should also be expandable. If this is your first venture into solar energy and you decide you like it, you want to be able to expand on the installation, not start over with a new one. The ability to add to or upgrade is an important feature to look at.

Power Up

There are easy and hard ways to determine your power needs. You can research every item in your home to determine how much power is used and multiply that by your best guess of how many hours per day you use each one. This can be a tedious process that at best gives you an estimate of your power usage.

Alternately, and probably simpler, would be to call your power company and have them access your records for the past year. They can tell you what your average monthly use is then you can divide that by 30 days to get a daily average.

Armed with your average power usage needs you can purchase your solar energy kit. You might want to purchase a kit that covers only a portion of your needs and upgrade later. Doing this lets you see how solar energy performs in your home and keeps your power company as a backup.

Another factor you should look into is whether or not the kit comes with a batter backup. You should decide ahead of time if you desire a battery backup or if you are okay being without power should blackout occur. Battery backups will increase the cost of the system dramatically and they are expensive to maintain.

If, however, you are staying on the power company’s grid and using an inter-tied system, you don’t have to worry about that. And you also save more money by selling your excess power to them. This system requires little or no maintenance to upkeep.

Your final decision, but also an important one is the company you are purchasing from. You should do your homework to insure you are dealing with a legitimate company that stands behind its products. If you can’t find good reviews or customer comments, keep looking until you do. You can save yourself a lot of headaches.

Choosing a solar power kit is not difficult; it just takes a little time. You need to know how much power to generate and you need to feel confident you are dealing with a reputable company. Once you armed with that information you are ready to go solar.

Other Choices to Solar Power Kits

Many people go for the expensive option and pay a company to do the complete installation of a solar energy system. The main benefit of this is that installation is hassle free, plus you will get some sort of a guarantee.

The down side to a professional system is that due to high cost it can take very long time for the system to actual start saving you money.

Have You Thought About Building Your Own Solar Panels?

If you had a shopping list of all the parts you need to build a solar panel system and step-by-step instructions on how to wire the system together, you could actually build your own solar power system for under $200.

You may not be aware, but there are now some great “how to” guides available on Internet that provide step-by-step instructions on how to build a solar power system. Some are much better than others and the best ones even include video instructions. These guides are aimed at anyone who is capable of using a drill and doing some basic wiring.

Out of all the DIY guides on renewable energy systems, my recommendation is Earth-4-Energy. You can get a quick insight into this guide by watching this YouTube Video Review of Earth4Energy.
